When is the status of the proposed merger between Smorgon Steel and OneSteel Ltd? |

On 26 June 2006, Smorgon Steel and OneSteel announced that they had reached an agreement under which it is proposed that OneSteel will acquire all outstanding Smorgon Steel shares under a Scheme of Arrangement. Consideration will be a combination of OneSteel shares and cash. The proposed transaction is subject to a number of regulatory approvals, and the date for a special meeting of shareholders to consider the proposed merger will be announced once key approvals have been received.
