Smorgon Steel is one of Australia's largest steel producers, with annual production exceeding 900,000 tonnes.
Smorgon was the first company in Australia to manufacture steel through the electric arc process and is an acknowledged leader in 'mini-mill' technology.
Smorgon high-grade steel is manufactured almost entirely from recycled iron and steel. This makes Smorgon Steel the largest buyer of feed scrap in Australia - more than one million tonnes annually.
Most of Smorgon Steel's production is sold to the company's own downstream processing, distribution and engineering businesses.
